Everything by Mary DeMuth

In her new book Everything, Mary DeMuth uses her own spiritual journey to examine what it means to follow Jesus with our head (what we think), our heart (who we are) and our hands (how we live).

This is not a "how to" book. The author herself writes, "The last thing I want to do is provide a 'how to be the best Christian in ten easy steps' guide. I pen these words as a fellow struggles who is learning that what we think about God matters, now we allow Him to reign in our hearts matters and how we obey Him in the moment matters. It all matters. Everything."

I think that's what I like most about this book. It is an honest look into one woman's life and struggles as she genuinely tries to give God her everything, yet she does offer some practical tips and suggestions.

In each of the three areas Mary DeMuth examines (head, heart and hands), she thoroughly disucusses what it looks like to give God our everything in these areas. Each section had six chapters that delve into these issues.

The book is so full of ideas, concepts and scripture that it's not easily digestible. In fact, I was more than half way through the book when I decided I needed to go back to the beginning and start over and read it more slowly. I also love that each chapter ends with a set of questions that help the reader really chew on what they just read.

This is a book I will likely read more than once...a book I can easily recommend to friends and anyone looking to deepen their relationship with God.

I received this book free form the publisher through the BookSneeze.com book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
